Creative Options, a one-day energizing conference for people with disabilities and the staff who support them, will be held on Monday, October 1, 2012 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Eagan Community Center. CHOICE, Inc. is a part of the committee that plans and executes this conference every year.

 

This year’s featured speaker is Dr. Jim Kern. Jim is a native Minnesotan and an international motivational speaker and consultant. He always reminds audiences of the importance of the people in our lives. His keynote address is titled Connecting Heart to Heart. He will also do three breakout sessions.

 

Breakout sessions for self-advocates include: Take a Walk in My Shoes presented by self-advocates, The Art of Change presented by Upstream Arts, and What is a Healthy Relationship? What Can You do to Keep Safe? presented by Brad Hansen from The Arc Greater Twin Cities.

 

Breakout sessions for direct care staff include: a panel of Assistive Technology vendors and experts facilitated by Jennie Delisi from the Minnesota STAR Program, Autism presented by Wendy Selnes of Brih Design, and Mindfulness also presented by Wendy Selnes.

 

Exhibitors at the conference include: AbleLink Technologies, AutoMARK Voting Machine, DynaVox, Hammer Travel, Minnesota STAR Program, and The Arc Greater Twin Cities.

 

The Assistive Technology panel is scheduled from 10:15-11:45 a.m. If you would like to attend only the panel, the registration fee is $25.
